The Cavour aircraft carrier, the Garibaldi helicopter carrier and the Vulcano logistic support unit are lined up in front during the exercise ‘Mare Aperto’, the most complex exercise planned and conducted by the Italian Navy.
Reaching and maintaining the position in this formation helps the Officers to train the so-called “occhio cinematico” or the ability to maneuver the ship in relation to the surrounding reference points with a few precise and effective orders.
