Amphibious assault ship TCG Anadolu, the largest and flagship ship of the Turkish Navy, was commissioned at Tuzla.
With a length of 231 meters, a breadth of 32 meters, and a displacement of 27,436 tons, the TCG Anadolu is the largest ship in the Turkish Navy. When fully laden, the ship will have a top speed of 20.5 knots and a 9000 nautical mile range.
The keel was laid in February 2018 and the vessel’s construction started in April 2016. The ship will be used for activities like supporting extended military warfare or disaster relief efforts. It will also serve as a command hub and the navy’s new flagship.
The TCG Anadolu was created by Navantia and constructed in Turkiye’s Sedef Shipyard. In June of last year, the ship began her sea acceptance testing.
TCG Anadolu combines the features of an aircraft carrier and a port for landing helicopters. It is called after the Anatolia Peninsula, which makes up the majority of Turkey’s landmass.
The ship will be fitted with a Bayraktar TB3 UCAV, which can land and take off on ships with small runways, according to Turkish officials.
