Malta International Airport is temporarily closed due to a small aircraft incident on the main runway. Some aircraft had already diverted to neighbouring airports in Sicily. The aircraft has been removed but inspections on the runway and further investigations are ongoing.
The aircraft owned by European Pilot Academy is a Tecnam P92 aircraft which was already involved in another incident back in 2022.
Secondary runway is being resurfaced at the moment.
