The contract is for $129 million, or Rs 1070.47 cr. Within the Buy (Indian-IDDM) Category, MDL will design, develop, and manufacture these multi-role FPVs domestically. They are expected to be delivered in 63 months.
These FPVs will have a variety of high-tech, cutting-edge features and equipment, such as wirelessly controlled remote water rescue craft lifebuoy, AI capability, and multipurpose drones.
The installation of the new technology will give the ICG more operating flexibility and strength to meet the multifaceted problems of the modern day.
Additionally, the protection and monitoring of fisheries, control and surveillance, anti-smuggling operations, search and rescue operations, including in shallow waters, assistance to ships and other vessels in distress, towing capabilities, monitoring and support during marine pollution response operations, and anti-piracy operations will all be greatly enhanced by these contemporary FPVs.
The government’s heightened focus on maritime security is reinforced by the acquisition of these FPVs, which also aims to strengthen ICG’s capability.
