“Viking Vesta” launched in Ancona

“Viking Vesta”, the new cruise ship that Fincantieri is building for the shipping company Viking, was launched at the Ancona shipyard.

The launching ceremony was attended by, among others, Torstein Hagen, President and CEO of Viking and Gilberto Tobaldi, Director of the Fincantieri shipyard in Ancona . A significant moment in the construction of the unit, “Viking Vesta” also touched water for the first time, an occasion that marks the transition to the final construction phase. The ship will enter service in the summer of 2025, offering itineraries in the Mediterranean and Northern Europe.

The unit will be positioned in the small vessel market segment. It will have a gross tonnage of approximately 54,300 tons, will be equipped with 499 cabins and will be able to accommodate 998 passengers on board. The ship, together with her sister ship “Viking Vela” which will leave the Ancona shipyard in autumn, will join the fleet of Viking cruise ships, all built by Fincantieri over the last 12 years.

Fincantieri and Viking have recently signed a contract for the construction of two further new sister ships of “Viking Vesta” , demonstrating the solid partnership between the two companies which to date can count a total of 20 ships.

Viking units are built according to the latest navigation and safety regulations, are equipped with high efficiency engines and systems that reduce exhaust gas pollution to a minimum and meet the most stringent environmental regulations.
