Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Maritime Systems, a Group company of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, held a delivery ceremony for the 3,500-ton patrol vessel “Amami” for the Japan Coast Guard at its Tamano headquarters factory on the 24th March.
The ceremony was attended by officials from the Japan Coast Guard, including General Affairs Department Director Masaki Hattori, and from Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, General Manager of the Ship and Special Machinery Division Kazutake Miki, who presented the delivery and receipt documents.
This vessel is the third 3,500-ton patrol vessel built at the Tamano Main Works, following the Miyako and Osumi patrol vessels of the same type that have already been delivered to the Japan Coast Guard. The aft training deck is equipped with a helicopter landing deck, and after commissioning, it will be assigned to the Amami Coast Guard Office of the 10th Regional Coast Guard Headquarters, where it will be engaged in duties such as territorial waters security, maritime rescue, ensuring public order, and protecting the marine environment.
Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Maritime Systems will utilize its development and design capabilities in the marine field, further strengthened through synergy with the Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Group, to contribute to the development of society through the construction of ships that help strengthen maritime safety capabilities.
