Fincantieri delivers Norwegian Aqua in Marghera

Fincantieri and Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) celebrated, at the Marghera shipyard, the delivery of Norwegian Aqua, the first ship of the expanded Prima Plus class that Fincantieri is building for the U.S. shipowner.

The ceremony was attended by the Chairman of Fincantieri, Biagio Mazzotta, the Chief Executive Officer and General Manager, Pierroberto Folgiero and the General Manager of the Merchant Ships Division, Luigi Matarazzo . The shipowner was represented by the Chairman and CEO of Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd, Harry Sommer and the Brand President of Norwegian Cruise Line, David J. Herrera.

At 156,300 gross tons and approximately 322 meters long, Norwegian Aqua is 10 percent larger than the first two Prima Class ships, Norwegian Prima and Norwegian Viva, also built by Fincantieri. She offers guests wide open spaces, a design that is meticulously crafted and new, one-of-a-kind experiences, including the Aqua Slidecoaster, the world’s first hybrid roller coaster and water slide, the Glow Court, an innovative digital sports complex with an interactive LED floor and the Aqua Game Zone, a multi-purpose entertainment zone with immersive games and virtual reality. Norwegian Aqua also boasts the largest 360-degree open-air promenade ever built, Ocean Boulevard.

In addition to the delivery of Norwegian Aqua, on which over 4,000 people including Fincantieri employees and partner companies have been working tirelessly on board the ship in recent months, the Marghera shipyard is preparing for another important milestone with the launching ceremony, of Norwegian Luna, the sister ship of Norwegian Aqua, which will set sail in spring 2026. A double event that confirms the strong bond between Fincantieri and Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings, a few weeks after the announcement of the historic order for four cruise ships of approximately 226,000 tons – the largest ever built for NCL by the Group.
